So here we are 21 days to go to the big day, I absolutely love Xmas and everything that goes with it, Tradition, Carol singing, Turkey, Puddings, Playing with the kids toys and then falling asleep. The only thing ever missing here in good old blighty is the snow, Well it looks like I’m only going to get this blog started as it’s our local Xmas shopping night here and I’ve been chomping at the bit to get on with a blog for about 2 weeks! Literally haven’t had two minutes all week until now and it is literally two minutes I’m going to get, We have been so busy making new pieces and finally got round to photographing them all with a week of very late nights only for Black Friday to come round and then that was it – Eat  – Sleep – Work – Repeat, Don’t get me wrong I want you guys to buy as much of our stuff as you like other wise I don’t have a job! I think we have managed to get five new products on in the last week so I have plenty to write about just no time to write it. Just had a look at the last blog more time has elapsed then I had thought, Better watch I don’t sleep through Christmas Day! OK so back in from the madness that is a late night Xmas shopping night, Only took a couple of hours! So let’s start with what I’m here for, Our new  personalised sterling silver secret message droplet necklace  We are always trying to expand our secret message range and we came up with a more simple design but nonetheless a cute little charm necklace. We have come to realize that sometimes simple is the best, Not everyone wants something extravagant so this necklace does the job. The dimensions for this droplet are 2.5cm and that’s from the top of the loop to the bottom and is 1cm wide, You get 30 characters and that includes spaces so it’s not the longest piece we have but that was the thought behind the design but as always if you wish to have it bigger then just contact us and we have also given you a few lines of text in the product description to give you a helping hand to start you off if you cannot think of anything. The hardest part of making this droplet was trying to solder the loop on, It can get a little frustrating lets say when it moves by the smallest of movements when everything is lined up and then you think maybe it’s time for an eye test in the new year!  So I hope Black Friday wasn’t to stressful for you all, I have to admit I just dodge it all together I can never make up my mind what I want so best to have nothing I say then all the stress and save my pennies, Can’t go wrong really! Joking aside thanks for those of you who bombarded us with orders on Black Friday we really appreciate your custom, We can make things all day long but it takes you guys to make our business work so thanks. Well here we are again! I actually started writing this blog a couple of weeks ago when the kids were off on half term but that’s what happens when the kids are off, Yes that’s right nothing!, Although we did have a great super Mario games week but the blog got well forgotten. Right so onto our new product, This is new ground for us as this is our first necklace for men and its even personalised!  Making  jewellery for guys is really difficult, it just is, I should know I  am one.  Well I love wearing mine and I like to think I have good taste in fashion in general so I like to think a few others will share my views and maybe buy one.   We really wanted to design something a little different from the rest, so the Personalized Secret Message Triangle was born! Now it starts off the same as the Secret Heart and the Teardrop necklaces in that we etch the text onto sterling silver sheet which is 0.7mm thick and cut it out and then the hard work begins! We firstly have to drill the holes and then shape the silver into a triangle, we can sometimes be easier said than done as if you don’t get the measurements and bends accurate the first time round, you can end up with a rather wonky triangle!  So once it’s a nice even, straight triangle shape, we solder the ends and then file them to make the join invisible.  Then onto the rather boring, but critical, filing and hand polishing to achieve  a beautiful shine and then into the tumbler for a few hours to harden it up.  Again it may look and sound simple but a lot of time and hard work goes into making one of these fine necklaces. It actually gets better as you have ten fonts yes that’s right ten fonts to choose from. So if your looking for a unique present this Christmas for the man in your life then why not give them a wonderful personal keepsake. Oh nearly forgot you can have it on Greek leather cord or a sterling silver chain. Well it’s been a sad and tough last couple of weeks for us, We have had a couple of family bereavements one of which was our beloved fur-baby Broxi who was suddenly taken from us. We have had some great times over the last 12 years home and abroad and the workplace feels very empty without him. So we haven’t being making much over the last couple of weeks as you can image but we have got our new Mother’s Day personalised pearl necklace on the website, It’s a couple of weeks overdue to the above mentioned but sometimes work isn’t the most important aspects of life when it really comes down to it. It’s nice to see the nights getting lighter and a little bit more sunshine to boot, It makes you feel a little bit more happier. Anywho back to work we decided to go for more of a tradition necklace with this design and you cannot get more traditional than a pearl necklace! Of course we added a modern twist to the design with some personalisation.  The pearls we used were 5.5-6mm and are a  light cream colour, The quality is  AA+  and they have a lovely lustre to them making them a wonderful starting componant  for a new design. We added some sterling silver ball spacers between the pearls, It  gives it that more elegant and classy look we feel, We do this with all our pearl range, It just adds something extra to it. Now the heart we cut measures 1.8cm wide by 2.5 high and is a nice sturdy 1.2mm thick, Because we cut our own shapes and sizes we can make the heart bigger if required but for what text we were using we decided on this size. There is so many personalised bits of jewellery out their that we wanted to design something a little different to your bog standard “Mum” centered on a heart. So we came up with idea of having “Mum” at a funky angle, It looks great, Something different but it did leave a big space on the heart so we thought about adding an image and the first one we thought of  was a Rose as it goes hand in hand with Mother’s day really. Looking at adding other images at some point but we will just add that to the job list at the mo. On the reverse of the heart is where you can add your personal text, Depending on how much text someone wants we have the option of cutting  the heart bigger but that’s a good thing! Flexibility that’s one of our main strengths. Overall this really does make a unique necklace, It has elegance,Class,Love all rolled into one necklace but if you would rather have something a little more subtle then we do offer this in a more simple design with it just on a sterling silver chain of which you have two choices, Trace chain or a Snake chain. Already I have a few new ideas for this design just from writing this blog, So onto the next challenge! Not sure what idea to start next but that’s all part of the adventure.

I cannot tell you how hot it was in the workshop today! And cannot believe how hot it still is, I’m melting away at the computer writing this blog. Well I’m going to blog about a customer we had last week that was asking for a Hebrew initial on our personalised initial necklace which was quite exciting (I’m very sad) as we haven’t used any other language other then English so I was intrigued to have a look at Hebrew text which looked so Alien to me as I have never seen it before, Need to educate myself more me thinks! I wasn’t sure how it would turn out as the letter was very thick in places so it was a test of my etching skills to get it right. I really enjoyed working on something a little different and hope very much to do other languages in the future just need to get my website out there into the big wide world! I forgot to take a picture when I made it (Doh!) but this is the letter M that we etched, this is my print out version for transferring to silver.

Well what a wonderful Royal wedding we had the  privilege of watching. Thought the occasion was fantastic with the large crowds that gathered up and down the wedding route. I was trying to see what jewellery was on show and I have to say there wasn’t that much and to be honest some of the guests pieces were dreadful, should have shopped with us! lol. Right now to our new product, might as well join the bandwagon and make a piece to coincide with the wedding. This is a personalised necklace for all those girls who would love to be the next princess. We are currently working on a range for this piece but in the meantime would like to see how this takes with our customers before we commit to other pieces which we are very confident in as with past history. We decided to make a simple piece to begin with which started with a sterling silver disc which measures 16mm in diameter and 1mm thick. We then etched the word princess and a picture of a crown which will be standard and then the name of your choice in this case we choose Kate for obvious reasons. The disc hangs from a beautiful bail which makes it more elegant and appealing and finally we  have given the option of having an Amethyst or Rose Quartz gemstone to sit along side a luscious white pearl.
