14k Gold Fill Bird’s Nest Pearl And Gemstone Necklace

Well that was a quick month!! Well as it’s the last day of the month I thought I would write about my last new product from last year, Yes another wire wrapped piece! Sorry lol,  I have become very fond of making this type of jewellery probably because I’m not to shabby at making it if I do say so myself, It’s only taken an age. So like my last couple of  wire wrapped charm bracelets I thought I would complete the set and make a 14K Gold fill and entwined pearl “Bird’s Nest ” ball charm and eventually turn into a charm bracelet like others at some point but wanted to be a little different with this one and make a necklace with it but I have added a twist by adding a gemstone. Now when I started to wire wrap the Gold wire I did notice a big difference from the sterling silver and Rose gold wire, It’s like trying to wrap a steel bar lol, It’s a lot tougher and the top of my fingers are similar to a tea bag – lots of perforated holes, If you manage to stab yourself  in the finger whilst weaving the wire your going to know about it – It sharp and it hurts and I’ve done it quite often! So with the Nest made with the pearls entwined on it I rummaged through my box of goodies, Now I could do with a maid with regards to this particular corner of the workshop, It’s no joke I look at it and have such good intentions in my head to sort it all out and put everything in its own compartment but I just think its a mental block lol. OK so I find my stash of gemstones and putting different colors against the nest and then I come across these sparkly beauties, Pink Mystic Quartz that I’ve had for a while and had actually forgotten about, That’s what happens when your stash is just piled on top and top and lost to depths of the eerie sweetie tin I keep them in. Now Gold and pink just pop when put together so I just new that this was the one for me, So once attached to the bottom of  nest job done! I love this unique design, I already have a few alternatives in my head but I’ll leave that for another day. So if you like your jewellery unique & sparkling then you can’t go wrong with this necklace. So that’s your lot for Jan and now we move on to the love month, Checkout the website by the way, Lots of Valentine’s goodies to choose from and we have a discount code so don’t be like the rest be an IndiviJewel.

Happy New Year – Sterling Silver And Entwined Pearl Bird’s Nest Bracelet

Happy New Year to you all! I have to admit I started writing this blog on New Years Eve, Yes I know how sad I’m I! but I just wanted to get one more blog in before the bells ding donged  but unfortunately it was wine o’clock  time and alas the draw of celebrating took hold and before you know it January the 7th is upon us. Well I hope you all had a wonderful Xmas and didn’t over indulged yourselves to much lol. I also hope all our customers enjoyed the presents they may have received or even if you treated yourselves to our handmade jewellery thank you all. So here we are back to the grind, I still have a few pieces to catch up on and thought I would continue where I left off last year with our new entwined bird’s nest range. So I have gone all sterling silver with this entwined pearl bird’s nest bracelet which like the Rose Gold one was a joy to design and make. To start with I hand wrapped about 66 inches of sterling silver wire and then entwined 2-2.5mm freshwater pearls as I neared the end, So I had my focal point now I just needed the rest of the bracelet! It took me a while to put the finished article together as this design was just an image in my head and wasn’t really sure what other components I needed until I was just going through my ideas box of goodies and then I came across these beautiful wire wrapped curved bars. So I had the spine of the bracelet now just needed some sort of beads to fit in and as the bird’s nest has entwined pearls I went to my trusted graded white/cream pearls and low and behold I had a stunning unique bracelet to show off. Now first thoughts are “Wedding Jewellery” but it actually looks good with any fashion and pretty sure you guys will feel the same. So with the January blues hanging over us it’s back to the design board to brighten up my days, So that’s it for this blog I will see you soon as I have another wire wrapped blog to chat about yes that’s right gone a bit mad with the wire wrapping! So wishing you all the best for the year ahead and don’t be like the rest be an IndiviJewel!

Freshwater Coin Pearl And Aquamarine Gemstone Necklace

Morning one and all, What a gorgeous sunny day we are having this fine Sunday, It’s amazing how a bit of sun puts a spring in your step and a smile on your face! So before I have to drag the kids off Batman 3 to take them and the mad mutt out I want to get this blog up and running, Told you I was getting on a roll with making stuff. Well I’m excited about this design, Some pieces you just get a good buzz about and that’s how it was when making this Coin pearl necklace With the summer season fast approaching it’s even more of a reason to show your pearls off, The way the sunshine reflects off pearls to show the different colors in the pearl are amazing. OK enough about sunshine as I’m getting a bit delirious thinking about a beach and a cocktail, I feel like booking a holiday now, Focus man there is work to do! In any case I need you guys to buy this necklace first so I can go on my travels lol. So first up it’s really hard to find an elegant charm holder bead, There’s not that many around but I have managed to source one out which I’m more than happy with. So on the charm holder I have attached a whopper of a coin pearl, A 14mm one which as you can see from the photo’s looks great quality to which it is! otherwise I wouldn’t use it! Around the pearl I have added a little cluster of 3-4mm round pearls and mingled in between are some beautiful 3mm aquamarine faceted rondelles, I love using faceted gemstones they just look more classy and give off a wonderful sparkle when the light hits them. So now we have our main focal point it’s onto the rest of the necklace, Now I did try using round pearls for this and it did work but I felt it just wasn’t right so I found these lovely cute 8-9mm coin pearls which when I put it all together just clicked straight away, As per usual I added the sterling silver spacers in between the pearls as I just think it looks more classy and elegant. Now the look of the necklace is unique (As always) and it gives the necklace it’s own identity and as you know I like my designs to flow and have the same look all over. So all in all I’m really happy with it and will be making the bracelet at some point today ready for photo’s during this coming week (Fingers crossed). Just as I near the end of another fact based roller coaster of a blog the sky is now GREY! Unbelievable so instead of a nice relaxing stroll in the woods thinking about summer jewellery it will be two head to toe muddy kids and a soggy boggy mutt to clean this afternoon! Right time to say bye for now so see you next time, Be an IndiviJewel!

Sterling Silver Coin Pearl Sweetie Bracelet

So here we are again, Monday night or should I say late Monday night in fact its nearly Tuesday probably will be by the time I’ve waffled on and finished this post, The start of another productive week well fingers crossed anyway. Well it was my son’s 4th birthday today and it has been Scooby Doo all day long although  I’m not complaining as I do like the old Scoob cartoons. So now that he’s nodded off I get to do some more work, “Yes” as you can imagine I’m jumping for joy! Who I’m I kidding I love talking about new pieces of jewellery I’ve made and I really love this Sterling Silver Coin Pearl bracelet which due to the design some people call a “Sweetie Bracelet” and to be honest it sure does look good enough to eat I must say. I love designing romantic feminine jewellery and at the end of making this one it made me smile because it turned out better then the image I had in my head. The focal point of this bracelet is a huge 15mm freshwater coin pearl, Very round in shape also very smooth and a vibrant glow to go. Coin pearls of this quality are really hard to find so I had to make something nice with them didn’t I. Around the coin I made a cluster of mixed round freshwater pearls from 2.5mm ones to 5mm, And amongst these I added a few Crystal Quartz rondelles for a little sparkle or two. I love the silver rings we use on our bracelets, Two jump rings soldered together to make a nice and shiny weighty bracelet, It’s nice to be IndiviJewel and different from everyone else who makes similar jewellery with the same components, It just gives it a unique look which is what we are all about. Now the heart toggle I have used lately I think I’m going to use this on quite a few of my designs as it is really good quality, Nice and sturdy and a lovely stand out component on its own. Now when I make bracelets I always like to add something near the toggle, I just think it looks classy and if you use the right component can make your jewellery have a nice contrast like I’ve done with this bracelet. I have used a very beautiful and big grapefruit quartz fat pear, I’m I allowed to say that or will I get told off by the PC brigade, Anyway it breaks the bracelet up and gives it a bit of razzmatazz, No idea why that word popped into my head, Must be watching all those retro cartoons earlier! Now on this bracelet I’ve used a heart charm which I’ve used before and will in the future due to its intricate detail which makes it such a cute little charm which I adore and think everyone else would as well. So that about completes the story of this bracelet, Like my last silver rings bracelet the Angel wing  I will be making necklaces to go with but trying to work on the designs at the moment because these are heavy bracelets if I made the necklaces the same your head would be bouncing off the pavement! Which wouldn’t look classy now would it. Now to look at the bracelet you automatically think wedding but like all the jewellery we design and make we do try to make it so that you can wear it with most things from T-shirt and jeans to business clothes to even a wedding maybe there’s a thought!. The design of this bracelet is to be a stand out piece without being over the top hideous “Look at me” which I think we achieved because when your wearing this your wrist will get looked at and you might even get asked where you got it from so please do tell them!, It’s so much better to see in the flesh this bracelet than the photo’s show, Even though the pics are good it doesn’t do the bracelet justice, It’s one of those where its just so alluring and desirable when looking at it that if you had one you wouldn’t want to take it off, If I was a women I know I wouldn’t! At the end of the day it’s the quality of components that make this bracelet look the way it does, You can have a great design but if you don’t have equally as good materials then it won’t work, All the materials used on this bracelet are really high quality so as you can see by this blog I’m happy so I’m off to bed now, See yer next time if you have a minute or two to spare.

The New Iridana Necklace

Managed to get an hour to get some photo’s of the new Iridana necklace which has been on my to-do-list for some time. I have never really been happy with the cluster necklace as part of a set, I do like the necklace and I hope all the people that purchased one will agree but I wanted to keep the theme of the design like the bracelet and earrings so I went back to a simple but very effective design of the bracelet. The coin pearls we use are incredible, they are so round and smooth and they have a vibrant colour to them that just makes them glow. Now that the set is designed in the same way I think any bride would look breathtaking with this jewellery set on.

Photographing Jewellery

Since we had the website re-vamped we have been looking into photographing our jewellery on new backgrounds. I cannot tell you how hard it is to photograph jewellery, We must have thousands of pics that we have taken but cannot use due to them just being rubbish lol. We have tried numerous props but they do not work for every piece due to different colours but then last week we were doing a bit of shopping in one of those “we have it all shops” and we came across a big pad full of fantastic looking vintage textured paper. It has different colours with different patterns but because its thick with a texture to it its great for jewellery. So we have been busy snapping away to get some fresh pics whichork and look fab. It makes it so much easier to get good pics without spending half  a day wondering what colours and props to use so here is our latest rework which is our beautiful Rosa bracelet on a delicious pinky background.

Wedding Bells

Its Tuesday morning and the best day of the week well working week anyway, as my little boy goes to nursery for the day and we can get stuck into the business. I thought i would do a bit of blogging while i have the chance as I am never sure if i will get the time later. I am working on a few designs aimed at weddings at the moment and have just finished making a lovely bracelet and necklace set as you can see in the photo which i managed to take in between all this lovely British weather (RAIN) i thought this was to be the ice cream summer!White freshwater pearl necklace 7White freshwater pearl bracelet 5I guess you could say that this is the usual template for pearl necklaces but its how you add your own little extras that makes it your design and for me i like my pieces to look elegant and alive if you get where I am coming from if not don’t worry I am just mad. I have used AAA white freshwater pearls on the necklace and bracelet which measure 9mm which is a great size, not to big so they don’t look over powering but big enough to get noticed. The luster on these pearls are fab and they really glow with a warm and colourful feel to them. I love to make pieces with the best components i can get my hands on and i love these pearls. I have used only a couple of Swarovski crystals just to add a little more sparkle because i didn’t want to take anything away from the pearls. I have put sterling silver spacers in between the pearls as i think it just looks more elegant and gives it that look of quality. The little extra i have used is a sterling silver solid heart toggle, this toggle was handmade in Bali and has lovely decorative touches added to it. I have decided to do this set in gold vermeil as well as it looks even better in gold, I think its the beautiful colour of the pearls i just need to get all the components together and I’ll take a few snaps of them and show them at a later date so for the mo au revoir.

White Freshwater Pearl,Aquamarine and Blue Iolite Mystic Quartz Earrings, Necklace

Well it was nice to get some hot sunny weather back again yesterday as it allowed me to get a few photo’s of my earrings and necklace to complete my pearl and gemstone set which I am now pleased to have finished and put on our site for sale as this is a stunning piece of jewellery if i do say so myself and would grace any bride walking down the runway. I have made the necklace in a very simple way but it looks very elegant so as not to be over powering and in your face. The dangle measures about 3 inches long and consists of white freshwater pearls which are in two sizes, 3mm – 3.5mm and 5.5mm – 6mm and are gorgeous. I then added Aquamarine rondelles which are 4mm in size and interspersed amongst the pearls and then we have the stunning blue mystic Iolite quartz which measure 6.5mm – 7.5mm and absolutely sparkle. I put four blue Iolite stones on the dangle as i didn’t want it to be to top heavy and become a mess so that it just has that elegant look. It took me a while to figure out what design i wanted for the earrings as i didn’t want to put to much on them otherwise it would look a mess and ruin the whole set so i decided to go for just one blue Iolite stone which would dangle at the bottom of the chain and be the main focal point. I used the biggest stones which were 7.5mm so they would stand out which i think looked right, your eyes are drawn to the sparkle they transmit. As for the pearls i left more of a gap between them as i felt to cluster them like the bracelet and necklace would be a mistake and they would look to bulky and lose that elegant look that i was looking for. I used  beautiful ornate sterling silver stud ear pieces to hang the earrings from which i think just complete these earrings.

Jewellery update

Evening all, I see we are back to the normal British summer time with all the rain. I think I am having one of those periods in life when things continue to go wrong if that’s the right word. I have been laid up for the past week with a  very sore back thanks to my little boy in which i have not been able to do any work up until yesterday when i managed to get a full day in the workshop and finish a few projects i had going  which is very rare for me or Sue as we have our 2 year old son to look after and the fact that Sue is 7 months pregnant so time is a little short. Well that’s enough of the sob story and back to the jewellery,  I managed to make the necklace and earrings to go with the new pearl and gemstone bracelet which is made with freshwater pearls, aquamarine rondelles and blue iolite mystic quartz and which is on our front page of the website so please check it out. I have no photo’s to show you I am sorry to say but with all the bad weather and my bad back i haven’t been able to get outside which is how i like to take my pictures if possible as jewellery looks so much better in natural sunlight but even that doesn’t do the gemstone jewellery justice.  I also finished off one of my wedding/bridal necklace and bracelet combo’s again i have no photo’s but hope to show them tomorrow. I have also nearly finished my necklace and earrings to go with my fairy-dust bracelet which is made with rose quartz onion briolettes, pink mystic topaz and white freshwater pearls but i must have been having another off day as i ordered the wrong size rose quartz which is what i have been waiting on and because i buy most of my luxury gemstones abroad it takes time to see if i can get them and then get them shipped. We have been working on a new personalised bracelet which should be ready for photo’s sometime this week and hopefully we will have it for sale on the website as well as i think its a lovely piece and i cannot wait to get it on. Its pretty hard to write about jewellery when you do not have the photo’s to show people as your describing it so i will finish there for tonight and hopefully be back blogging tomorrow with some pics, But i will leave you with a few of our holiday pics so i bid you bonne nuit.DSC_0062DSC_0059DSC_0102
